“Embrace the World!”--Publicity Performance for the 26th Summer Universiade Shenzhen 2011

In August of 2011, the 2011 Summer Universiade is scheduled for Shenzhen, China. Over nearly a century, the Universiade, a global event to celebrate the spirit of sports and harmony of the young and vibrant individuals in college, has been one of the most important and influential events in modern sports history aside from the Olympiad. The southern China city of Shenzhen is a busy port and one of the fastest growing cities in the world. The city has devoted great energy and passion in organizing this event for the whole world, as well as building 12 new stadiums to facilitate the Universiade. Certainly, the world is about to witness a splendid sports event in the foreseeable future.

Berkeley Chinese Students & Scholars Association (BCSSA) is the largest Chinese student organization not only at the University of California, Berkeley but also among all the universities in Bay Area. Over the years, BCSSA has been dedicated to serving the Chinese community in Berkeley, representing the image of Chinese students in American society and promoting America’s understanding of Chinese students. Events hosted by BCSSA in the past years were widely rewarded with great support and recognition in Berkeley community. In order to help publicize the 26th Summer Universiade Shenzhen 2011 globally and to extend the most sincere welcome from Shenzhen, BCSSA will be hosting “Embrace the World!”--Publicity Performance for the 26th Summer Universiade Shenzhen 2011 at Zellerbach Auditorium on Berkeley Campus on January 29th, 2010.

BCSSA has invited over 280 professional artists from Shenzhen to perform on the night of Jan. 29th, 2010. The performances will include Chinese dance, martial arts, acrobatics, etc. These traditional Chinese performances will bring to the audience the utmost enjoyment of Chinese culture. Aside from savoring a tremendous night of culture, the audience will experience, themselves, the warmest welcome from Shenzhen, China and the Universiade.

Founded in 1989, Berkeley Chinese Students and Scholars Association (BCSSA) is a non-profit and non-political organization formed by Chinese students and scholars studying and working at University of California, Berkeley and is based on the voluntary service of its members. Since its founding twenty years ago, BCSSA has always been dedicated to the goal of promoting social, intellectual and cultural activities for Chinese students and scholars at UC Berkeley as well as other interested members in the Berkeley community. Currently, there are more than 2000 members registered on our website, and more than 800 people are our active members. BCSSA has become the largest Chinese student association in the Bay Area.
